The Challenges
As owner’s project manager for this multi-unit project sponsored by the Acton Housing Authority, we led the two-step contractor selection process under Chapter 30 regulations and managed the construction of 12 duplex units of affordable housing built using modular construction. We coordinated the project’s successful application for Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
Design recommendations by the team coupled with modular construction methods minimized waste through material efficiency, achieving LEED Gold Certification. Site work began in September 2012 and was completed on schedule in June 2013 – a very short 9-month construction schedule.
