The Challenges

H.R. Gray, an Anser Advisory Company, was selected by Franklin County Metro Park to provide construction inspection services for a one-mile section of the Camp Chase multiuse trail that runs from Hall Road to Sullivant Avenue. The key components of this section of multiuse trail are three prefabricated bridges including one 330 LF bridge spanning over an interstate highway, a six span 360 LF bridge over a drainage ditch as well as a single span 80 LF bridge over an existing culvert. The bearing for this bridge rests over 1300 LF of 12-inch cast in place steel tube piling, which supports both the abutments as well as piers. This path contains over 900 LF of precast concrete lagging and H-Pile retaining wall. The roadway is a permeable pavement system with a cellular confinement subgrade topped with a porous asphalt, to meet storm water run-off requirements. This multiuse trail runs adjacent to the Camp Chase Railroad and is a key sections in the Ohio to Erie trail that will link Cleveland, Columbus, and Cincinnati, Ohio.
